Services Set Thursday for J.W. Myers
John Wesley Myers, 84, died Tuesday [October 10, 1967] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital. His death was attributed to a heart attack, suffered Sunday morning.

He was born Jan. 30, 1883, at Cedar Rapids, to Mr. and Mrs. George W. Myers, and received his education at Cedar Rapids and Watertown, S.D. schools.

He moved to Emmet County in 1905 with his parents.

My Myers was married June 5, 1923, to Ella Mae Lundgren of Worthington, Minn., at Sioux Falls, S.D. He was employed by the Rock Island Railway as an engineer, retiring in July, 1949.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Wesley D., Los Angeles, Calif., John and Richard of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary Ann) Peterson, Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Nowlin, Fountain Valley, Calif. Also one brother, Roy W. Myers, Estherville, and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one granddaughter, Beth Ann Myers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel, Rev. Raymond Hampton officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home until time of services Thursday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 11, 1967)
