ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Lorraine Mortenson, 88, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Don Rehner officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Estherville Lutheran Church. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.
She died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Rosewood Manor in Estherville.
Lorraine Ruth Mortenson, the daughter of Victor and Edith (Nelson) Mortenson, was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Estherville.
She received her education in Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1942.
Lorraine served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. She retired from the telephone company after 35 years of service, working in Estherville, Minneapolis, Sacramento, Calif. and San Francisco, Calif.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, politics and spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, Lutheran Business and Professional Club in San Francisco, American Legion, VFW Auxiliary, MOCA Auxiliary, Service Star Legion and AARP.
Left to cherish Lorraine's memory are her brother, Victor Keith (Ann) Mortenson; sister, Dottie Bringle and nieces, Karen Wills, Laurie (Bill) Ward, Rainy (Denny) Bassano, Bunny (Joe) Pellegrini, Robbyn (John) West and Mark Mortenson.
She has been preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elvera; brothers, Kermit and Kenny; nephews Eric and Wayne Mortenson; sister-in-law, Marcia Mortenson and brother-in-law, Ray Bringle. (Estheville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June, 2011)
