Resident of Superior Dies at 77
Superior – A rural Superior man died while sleeping yesterday afternoon after he had complained he wasn’t feeling well and had gone to his room to rest.

William Logan, 77, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

Mr. Logan had told his daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Betty) Johnson of Superior, who was at his home, that he wasn’t feeling well so he was going to sleep for a while. When his son Bernard Logan arrived home and went to check on his father’s condition, he found him dead.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg to officiate. Burial is to be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery here

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 3 p.m. Saturday until time of services. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.

William Logan was born Nov. 28, 1886, at Aplington, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Logan. He received his education in the Aplington schools and moved to Buffalo Center at the age of 21.

He was married to the former Viola Patterson, June 12, 1911, at Buffalo Center, and the couple moved to a farm east of Estherville where they remained for 11 years. They then moved to the Superior area, where Mr. Logan has lived for the past 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and a granddaughter.

Surviving sons and daughters, in addition to Bernard and Mrs. Johnson are Mrs. Edwin (LaVon) Osher, Wallingford; Mrs. Alan (Hazel) Krieger, Estherville; and William, a teacher in the American Elementary Schools in Korea.

A brother, Charles of Superior, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1963)
