Services for Catherine M. Heidecker, 62, Estherville will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church with Rev. Clifford Haider officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Tuesday [April 27, 1982] in McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 2p.m. Friday. She was born April 14, 1920 in Pocahontas county, IA., the daughter of Thomas and Carrie (Hansen) Thomsen. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1937 and received her Bachlelor's Degree from Mankato State after which she began teaching. She moved to Estherville and began teaching in 1946. On June 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Orville E. Heidecker at Laurens after which she gave up teaching to raise a family. She began substitute teaching in 1956 and returned to full time teaching in 1960 in 5th grade at Estherville Middle School.

Mrs. Heidecker was a member of the United Methodist Church; American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries; American Association of University Women and served on the board of directors for Estherville Housing.

Survivors include three sons; Keith, Bellevue, Wash., Gale, Austin, Minn., and Jan of Vermillion, S.D.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Thomsen, Moorhead, Minn., and Howard Thomsen, Ft. Collins, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Marcia) Hogevoil, Hagertown, MD.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. (MC)
