Services for Franklin P. Rodger, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, Rev. John Bowe will officiate. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday in Holy Family Hospital. Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Rodger was born June 15, 1908 at Sheldon, the son of John W. and Caroline (Protexter) Rodger. He attended Sheldon Community School. He lived in Sanborn three years. On June 28, 1931 he married Ethel Johanna Versteeg at Sibley. They moved to Estherville in 1935 where he owned a plumbing and heating business, which he operated until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a trustee; he also had served on the city council.
Survivors include his wife Ethel, Estherville; son Darrell Rodger, Keokuk; daughter Marlene Donaldson, New Brighton, Minn; six grandchildren; one brother Howard of Twin Falls, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April, 1982)
