Leon L. Neppl, son of Isadore and Maxine (Truesdell) Neppl, was born October 25, 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa. He died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at his home in Lewisville. He was 64 years old.

Leon grew up in the Estherville, IA area and graduated from Lincoln Central High School in 1962. He married Lynnette Borkenhagen in 1968. They were later divorced. Leon drove truck for many years and also worked for Tony Downs Foods in Madelia from 1987 until retiring in 2006. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Weed of Minnetonka; one son, Joel, and wife Barbara of Clarksville, TN; his mother Maxine Leonard of Estherville, IA; five grandchildren: Alexandra Ortiz, Nicholas Weed, Larissa Weed, Samantha Weed and Anthony Neppl; two great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Neppl and Hailey Stromley.

Leon was preceded in death by his father and a sister Susan Bruner.

A memorial service will be held 3 PM Tuesday, April 15, at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville, IA. (Mankato Free Press, Mankato, MN, April 14, 2008)
