Robert J. Hilbert, 1934-2009

Robert Hilbert the son of John and Josephine (Gengler) Hilbert was born October 9, 1934 and departed this life on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 74.

He received his education in St. Joe, Iowa.

On April 20, 1962 he was united in marriage to Irene Ehrhardt. The couple made their home in Estherville and then Superior where they lived their entire married lives. Bob was employed with John Morrell & Co. until the plant closed. He then was the feed truck driver for the Superior Coop Elevator until he retired in 2006. After he retired, he helped as groundskeeper for Village West in Spirit Lake.

Bob loved spending time going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He also had a love for collecting red wing crocks.

Left to cherish Bob's memory is his wife, Irene of Superior; children, Brian and Ronda of Independence, Iowa; Sonia and Bob Erickson of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Cory and Matthew Hilbert and Nicholas and Micayla Erickson; siblings, Julie and Dale Dencklau of Vincent, Iowa; and Denny and Barb Hilbert of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

He has been preceded in death by his son, Michael and parents.
