Selmer Matre Funeral Set for Monday
Selmer Burton Matre, 49, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Sioux Falls, S.D., Veterans Hospital. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar J. Matre. He was born July 26, 1921, in Estherville, graduated from the Estherville High School, attended the Estherville Junior College, Iowa State University and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

On Aug. 15, 1945, he was married to Lois I. McKean at the First Presbyterian Church at Estherville. He taught in the Ringsted High School before moving to Estherville in 1957.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a Veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, and one son, James, Cedar Falls; his mother, Mrs. Bill Matre; two brothers, James B. Estherville; Abner, Rockford, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Pomgrenke, Okobena, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
