Mrs. Kenneth McLean [MacLean] Dead
Mrs. Kenneth McLean [Agnes Foreman MacLean] died last Friday [November 6, 1903] at 5 p.m. and was buried last Sunday afternoon in the Eastside cemetery. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church and were attended by a large congregation, some coming from Hoprig and Emmetsburg.Until last spring Mrs. McLean was a strong, healthy woman. In the early summer she was taken down with stomach trouble and was in bed for five weeks, then she rallied and got on nicely until four weeks ago, when she became seriously ill. For three weeks nothing could enter the stomach. Then an operation was decided on, but her condition made recovery impossible.
Mrs. McLean was born in Berwickshire, Scotland, fifty-three years ago [April 16, 1847] , and came to the United States in 1884. Four years later she was married to Mr. Kenneth McLean of this city. She united with the church at an early age in Scotland and joined the Presbyterian society here by letter when the organization worshipped in the court house. Since then she was a loyal worker in the church and was respected by all who knew he as a faithful wife, and a consistent Christian. The children, David Foreman, Neil and Mary McLean, were home for the funeral. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, November 11, 1903)
