Estherville – Funeral services for DeVere Edward Paul, 70, of Inglewood, Calif., and formerly of Estherville, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 7, at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Clair Boes will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Estherville.

Paul died Jan. 4, in Grass Valley, Calif.

Friends may visit at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 9 a.m. today.

Paul was born on Jan. 13, 1917, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Wratten) Paul. He attended Estherville High School and graduated in 1937. He also attended aeronautical school in Inglewood.

He moved to Inglewood in 1939 and was employed by McDonald and Douglas [McDonnel Douglas, predecessor of Boeing] as an aeronautical engineer. He served in World War II and following the war, he returned to Estherville. In 1948, Paul moved back to California and rejoined McDonald and Douglas until his retirement in 1972. He continued to reside in Inglewood after his retirement.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II. He did not marry.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Isabel (Joseph) Magorno of Grass Valley, Calif., and one nephew, Tom Magorno of Castro Valley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1988)
