Estherville – Services for Mrs. Lambert (Lena) Hermsen, 77, Estherville, will be held Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1985 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 2 p.m. Sunday. Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lena Margaret Hoffman was born May 23, 1908 at Roselle, Iowa and was the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Laub) Hoffman. She received her education in the Roselle schools. On Feb. 1, 1937 she was united in marriage with Lambert W. Hermsen at Roselle. Following their marriage the couple moved to Emmet County and farmed west of Estherville. They farmed until 1970 when they retired and moved into Estherville. Mr. Hermsen died March 31, 1976. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Melvin Hermsen, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Engstrom, Emmetsburg; three grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Hoffman, Roselle; two sisters Rose Kasperbauer and Katherine Brincks, both of Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 12, 1985)
