Estherville Woman's Rites Set Saturday
Estherville – Mrs. Alice Wood, 87, Estherville, died Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services for Mrs. Wood will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Estherville, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

At 7:30 p.m. rosary by the Catholic Daughters of America will be held tonight at Henry Funeral Home followed by an 8 p.m. parish rosary. Friends may call at Henry Funeral Home until time of services Saturday.

She was born June 4, 1897 [per cemetery records & SS death index, 1889] at Ayrshire to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Donovan and was educated in the Ayrshire schools. In 1914 she was married to Samuel J. Wood at Ayrshire where she lived until 1929 when she and her husband moved to Estherville.

Mrs. Wood was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph D. Wood, New Braunfels, Tex., John D. Wood, Calexis, Calif., and Robert S. Wood, Richardson, Tex.; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 25, 1974)
