Mrs. Ethel Ross Dies at Spirit Lake
Mrs. Ethel Ross, 77, of Spirit Lake, a former Estherville resident died Tuesday [February 27, 1968] at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Ross had been in ill health for the last year, but she was just recently hospitalized. Her death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mrs. Ross was born April 18, 1890 to Mr. and Mrs. William Moffatt, of Carroll County.

She received her education in Carroll County.

She was married to Otto Loeschen and moved with her husband to Dickinson County in 1917. Later the couple moved to Estherville where Mr. Loeschen was engaged as a painter. He preceded her in death in Estherville in June of 1954.

Mrs. Loeschen moved to Spirit Lake after her husband’s death and married William Ross in August, 1960. The couple lived in retirement in Spirit Lake until Mr. Ross died.

Mrs. Ross was a member of the United Brethren Church in Carroll County.

One son, Aubrey Loeschen of Spencer, and two daughters, Mrs. Robert Martinson, of Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Delbert Hall of Phoenix, Ariz., survive.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Donovan-Leyson Funeral Chapel at Spirit Lake. Rev. Ben Swede, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Spirit Lake, will officiate.

Friends may call at the Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home until time of services on Friday.

Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery at Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 29, 1968)
