Ernest L. Lindsey, 62, is Dead
Stricken While at Dows Station
Ernest L. Lindsey, 62, longtime Rock Island railroad employee of Estherville, died suddenly at 6:15 a.m. today of a heart attack in a railroad station at Dows where he was working as engine watchman.Mr. Lindsey had suffered a heart ailment for the past two years but his death this morning was unexpected.
He was born May 14, 1888, in Osceola county and lived there until his marriage in 1913. The Lindseys then moved to Buffalo Center, living there for 10 years and coming to Estherville in 1923. They have made their home here since that time.
Mr. Lindsey was a member of the Methodist church.
He is survived by his widow, five children, Mrs. Leroy York of Pocatello, Ida., Mrs. Robert Schenck of Estherville; Mrs. Donald Midthun of Estherville; Cpl. L. H. Lindsey, United States marine corps in Korea, whose family is living in Pocatello; and Howard Lindsey, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles Lamb of Estherville and one brother, Clarence Lindsey of Rowen. He was preceded in death three years ago by one brother, Edward of Lake Park.
Funeral arrangements are not completed awaiting word from the son in Korea. Tentative plans call for holding the rites Thursday or Friday at the Methodist church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 16, 1951)
