Mrs. Fletcher Knotts Dies; Rites Monday
Mrs. Fletcher (Eva) Knotts, 60, of W. 209 Central died at 4:40 p.m. yesterday at her home. She had been in failing health since July of last year.Mrs. Knotts was born Jan. 5, 1898 at Blue Island, Ill., the daughter of Elmer and Christina Bennett. The family later moved to Fairmont, Minn., where Mrs. Knotts was graduated from high school and also from the normal training department. After graduation she taught school in Martin county for four years.
She was united in marriage to Fletcher W. Knotts at Fairmont on April 25, 1923. Three daughters were born to them.
Mr. and Mrs. Knotts moved to Estherville in June of 1945 (1946?), residing here since that time. Mr. Knotts is a typecasting machine operator at the Estherville Daily News.
Mrs. Knotts was an active member of the Calvary Baptist church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was also a past president of the Calvary Baptist’s Women’s Missionary Fellowship. She was a leader of the junior club of the Modern Woodmen of America and was a member of the local Woman’s Club.
Survivors are her husband, Fletcher, three daughters, Mrs. (Esther) Kooser and Eda, both of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. John W. (Marilyn) Woodward of Waukee; two grandsons, Lindsey and Gregory Kooser; and two brothers, LeRoy and Earl Bennett, both of Fairmont.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Her father, Elmer Bennett, resided with Mr. and Mrs. Knotts here prior to his death in October, 1956.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Calvary Baptist church, the Rev. F.W. McKnight officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.
