Arlie John Knepper
Estherville – Mr. Arlie John Knepper, 87, a resident of The Good Samaritan Center, passed away Dec. 20 at Holy Family Hospital here.

Services for Mr. Knepper will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Estherville, with burial to be in Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Knepper was born Sept. 29, 1889 at Dunkerton, in Black Hawk County. His father and mother were John and Harriet Dickey Knepper He moved with his parents to Goodrich, North Dakota at 13 years of age, where he was educated through the eighth grade and helped operate his father’s 3300 acre ranch. He served in France in World War I, returning to North Dakota after his discharge, where he worked for the post office.

He purchased the Estherville Laundry in 1925, which he operated until 1959, when the business was sold to his son, Eugene.

Mr. Knepper was a member of United Methodist Church, Estherville, and of American Legion Post 91.

He is survived by two sons, Eugene Knepper, Cedar Rapids, and Robert Knepper, St. Paul, Minn.; one daughter, Naoma Price, Minneapolis; six grandchildren; one sister, Iva Porter, Portland, Oregon. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 21, 1976)
