John Kleveter Dies
John Kleveter, 92, Estherville, died at Holy Family Hospital about 7 a.m. today.

He was a retired Rock Island Railroad employee and a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Edith and one sister, Mrs. Fred Reese, Rowen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allen Wirtz officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 25, 1969)

Tuesday Rites Scheduled for Local Man, 92
Emil John Kleveter, 92, who died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, was born Jan. 1, 1877, in Fon du Lac County, near Ripon, Wis. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kleveter.

He moved with his parents to Goodwin, S.D., in March, 1883, and to Bemis, S.D., in 1885, where he attended school.

He started working for the B.C.R. & N. Railroad in 1898.

On June 12, 1907, he was married to Goldie Herrick at her parents’ home in Canby, Minn. That year he was transferred by the railroad to Lake Park, where he lived for 30 years. In 1937 he was transferred to Estherville and lived here until his death. He retired from the Rock Island Railroad Jan. 1, 1942.

His first wife preceded him in death. On June 16, 1964, he was married to Edith Koopman at the Methodist Church in Ripon, Wis.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Estherville where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Odd Fellows Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Edith, one sister, Mrs. F.L. Reese of Rowan, 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian church, the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home anytime today and until noon Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 27, 1969)

Nieces of E.J. Kleveter, and their husbands who were here yesterday for his funeral are Mr. and Mrs. Alton Pierce of Brandon, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmit of St. Paul. The Pierces went back home yesterday and the Schmits were planning to return to St. Paul today. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 29, 1969)
