Estherville – Corwin Belknap Keith, 77, Estherville, died Thursday [December 7, 1979] afternoon at his home. Services for Mr. Keith will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 o’clock tonight at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville.

Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Saturday and at the church prior to services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. David Keith, he was born Nov. 2, 1902, at Goldfield. He moved to Ceylon, Minn., with his family as a young boy and received his education in Ceylon schools, graduating in 1920. He then attended the University of Minnesota, majoring in business.

He was employed at the Keith and Kelling Cement and Tile Company in Ceylon until joining the Merchant Marines in 1928. He served with the Merchant Marines until 1942, when he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until discharged in 1945.

He was married to Marie Cayler Kilgore on June 4, 1946, at Spencer and the couple made their home in Estherville, where Mr. Keith was employed by the Veterans Administration until 1950 and as Emmet County Auditor from 1950 until retiring in 1969. He served as the Iowa Inheritance Appraiser from the time he retired until his death.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Elks Lodge.

Mr. Keith is survived by his wife, Marie, Estherville; two daughters, Jane Kilgore, Weaver, Ala., and Mrs. Don (Ruth) Anderson, Maquoketa; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. David Keith, Rochester, Minn.; one brother, Max Keith, Worthington, Minn.; and four sisters, Mrs. William (Rosemary) Hein, Welcome, Minn., Mrs. Doris McDermott, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Richard (Jennie) Kreuzer, Sun River, Ore., and Patricia Keith, Rochester.
