The little babe of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Briggs of Wallingford died Wednesday and was buried in the cemetery at this place Thursday afternoon. The little one had been sick only a short time. Obstruction of the bowels was what caused its death. The parents have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of bereavement. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, January 31, 1900)

Note: while the stone says born 1900 and died 1901, according to Ernest Linwood Briggs' obituary, he had one son who died in infancy and a daughter who survived him. It is possible that the stone was placed later and the dates were not checked.
