John LeRoy Woods, the son of Michael Joseph and Rosanna (Dominy) Woods, was born March 15, 1914, in Goodell, Iowa, and departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 1999, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, California, at the age of 85 years, eight months and five days.

John moved with his family as a young to the Estherville area and attended school in Gruver, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War Two. Following his discharge from military service, John returned to Estherville, where he was employed as a car sales man at Thomas Motors for several years. Later, he moved to Sacramento, California and was employed as a civilian employee for the United States Air Force at McClelland Field near Sacramento for many years.

John was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.

John is survived by one brother, William Woods and his wife, Phyllis of Estherville; two sisters, Lucille Woods and Alma Woods both of Estherville; six nieces, Nancy Woods; Debbie Woods; Sandy Woods; Susan Woods; Diane Woods; Judy Delgado; and three nephews, Bob Reuland; Bernard Reuland and Bill C. Woods.

Preceding John in death were his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. (MC)
