Mary Margaret Collison, the daughter of Elliott and Rose (Whitcomb) Collison, was born March 11, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 82 years.

She graduated from Blue Earth High School in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She attended Teacher Normal Training School for one year. After completing her education Mary taught country school for one year.

On June 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lyle Schock in Blue Earth. After their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Blue Earth where they farmed from 1949 through 1959. Then they moved to the Estherville area where they continued to farm. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading.

Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville where she taught CCD. She enjoyed doing volunteer work and was active in the Right To Life Movement for twenty-five years. She was also an assistant 4-H Leader.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her husband, Lyle of Estherville; her children, Bill Schock and his wife, Sue of Estherville and their children, Greg and Suzy Shock, Pam and Darren Tromblay, Nikki and Brian Varcoe, Coleen and Scott McDowell, Kevin and Sarah Shock and Sara Shock; Rita and Rex Wisner of Stephenville, Texas and their children, Beck and Brian Ray, Jeff Wisner, Steve Wisner; Sr. Ruth Shock, O.S.F. of Sioux City, Iowa; Jane Prokop and her husband, Jim of Canby, Minnesota and their children, Mike and Jodi Prokop, Chris and Jason Grussing, John and Amanda Prokop, Regina and John Ranney, Angela Prokop, Patricia Prokop and Julie and Albert VanWyk, Susie Prokop; Dave Shock, and his wife, Sharon of Goodyear, Arizona and their children, Matt and Jennifer Shock, Brian Shock; Mark Shock of Monona, Iowa; seventeen great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Vincent Collison and his wife, Angela of Danielson, Connecticut; Dolores Engesser and her husband, Dick of Blue Earth, Minnesota; James Collison and his wife, Valerie of Mason City, Iowa; Thomas Collison and his wife, Elaine of Denver; Sister Theresa Collison S.S.N.D. of St. Peter, Minnesota; Catherine Becker and her husband, John of Los Angeles, California; John Collison of Denver, Colorado; and Jennie Rantz and her husband, Mike of Winter Park, Colorado.

Preceding Mary in death were one daughter, Mary; one grandson, Justin Wisner; her parents; an infant brother, Robert; an infant sister, Rose and two brothers, Larry and Robert. (MC)
