Mary Gertrude Synders, the daughter of John and Marie Snyders, was born March 15, 1893 at Linne Lmburg, Holland and departed this life at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Monday, February 24, 1975 at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

As a young child she came to the United States with her parents and attended St. Bernard’s School in Breda, Iowa.

On April 28, 1914 she was united in marriage to Henry Neppl at Breda, Iowa. The couple farmed near Oakes, North Dakota until 1917 when they moved to Emmet County. In August, 1952 they retired from farming and moved into Estherville. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last April.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society and was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Mrs. Neppl is survived by her husband, Henry; four sons, Isidore, Melvin, and Earl, all of Estherville, and Gerald of Jacksonville, Arkansas; five daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Florence) Christensen of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Bendixen, Mrs. Roy (Lorraine) Kirchner, both of Estherville, Mrs. Jerome (Ethel) Pohlen of McLean, Virginia, and Mrs. Roy (Rita Mae) Fox of Bancroft, Iowa; thirty-nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Peter (Ann) Hoffman of Vail, Iowa. She has been preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. (MC)
