Estherville - Funeral services for Beatrice Eleanor Gustafson, 86, Estherville, will be held Monday, Sept. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home at 4:30 p.m. Sunday and the Parish Rosary will be prayed at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Gustafson died Friday [September 1, 1989] at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Beatrice Luksik was born Nov. 7, 1902 in Olivia, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Simmer) Luksik. She graduated from Comfrey, Minn. high school in 1918 and attended Mankato Business College for two years in Mankato, Minn.

On July 17, 1930, she married Floyd Gustafson in Comfrey. The couple moved to Estherville after their marriage when they opened a branch of the Butterfield Produce, which they owned and operated until 1971. Mr. Gustafson died Feb. 19, 1973. Bea enjoyed playing golf and bridge in her spare time.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, where she was involved in the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Tostenson of Estherville and Mrs. Nadine Gudgell of Ames. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Laura Zabel and her husband Steve of Golden, Colo.; Cindy Tostenson of St. Louis Park, Mo.; Chuch Tostenson and his wife Sue of Estherville; Gary Tostenson and his wife, Candy of Lenexa, Kans.; Steve Gudgell and his wife, Mary of Rochester, Minn.; Cathy Freene of Nevada, Iowa and Julie Gudgell of Ames.

She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons-in-law, parents, one sister and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September, 1989)
