Mrs. Chris G. Jensen, 59, Dies At Home Today
Mrs. Chris G. Jensen, 59, wife of the owner of Estherville Iron works, died 8:15 a.m. today at the Jensen home. Death was attributed to cancer. The deceased has been suffering from the ailment for the past two years and had been bedfest about three months.

She was born May 31, 1891, on a farm near Sheffield, and early in life moved with her family to the vicinity of Buffalo Center, where she received her education.

On Jan. 26, 1910, she was married to Chris Jensen of Buffalo Center and the couple lived on farms near Buffalo Center, Swea City and Armstrong for the next few years. In 1923, they moved to Estherville where Mr. Jensen went into business as owner of the Iron Works.

She was a member of Estherville Methodist church and active in the various women’s circles and other church activities, as well as belonging to the Rebecca and Past Noble Grand lodges.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Heggen and Mrs. John Whitacre, both of Estherville; a son, Ralph Jensen of Rapid City, S.D.; three grandchildren, Marjorie and Robert Heggen and Barbara Jensen; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Lindsey of Estherville and a brother, William Schultz, of Pocatello, Ida. Her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.

Services have been postponed pending the arrival of Ralph from Rapid City. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1949)
