Services Held for James Jamison, 55
Funeral services were held Monday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral home in Estherville for James Jamison, 55, of Wallingford. Rev. Robert Glaser of Wallingford officiated. Burial was in Eastside cemetery with military graveside services, at Estherville.

Mr. Jamison died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 18 at Holy Family Hospital following a stroke suffered at 3:30 that same afternoon while working at Christopherson Slough, just west of the Dickinson county line, north of Highway 9.

He was working with the State Conservation Commission with whom he had been employed for seven years. He was in the state truck on his way home when the stroke occurred. Another employee, Gerald Wee, of Spirit Lake, was with him at the time. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to the hospital but he never regained consciousness.

James Andrew Jamison was born July 5, 1910 at Booneville, Iowa, the son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. John Jamison. As a young man he moved with his parents to a farm east of Wallingford and attended school in that area. He continued to live in that area except for service in World War II when he went overseas and was stationed in England with the U.S. Army 8th Air Force group.

On Dec. 13, 1941 he married Evelyn Norse of Estherville. Prior to working for the Conservation Commission, he was employed by Emmet county for a number of years. He was a World War II veteran and a member of VFW.

Immediate survivors are his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Charlene, at home; two brothers, Maxwell of Graettinger and Clarence of Des Moines; four sisters, Mrs. Ade Ziemer of Orange, Calif., Mrs. Adda Thompson of Morris, Ill., Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Wheeler of rural Estherville, and Mrs. Helmer (Sarah) Kasa of West Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two brothers and one sister. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, March 31, 1966)
