Estherville – Services for Henry J. Clarken, 84, Estherville, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Edward Girres officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Friday, Feb. 12, 1993 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Saturday, Legion of Mary Rosary will be 4 p.m. and Parish Vigil service at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1908 at Clare, the son of Henry and Josephine (McCabe) Clarken and attended Barnum School On May 1, 1933 he was united in marriage with Mary Gilligan at Gilmore City. He farmed in Webster, Story and Kossuth counties before moving to Emmet County in 1970, and moved into Estherville in 1981. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include sons: Don of Rutland; Harold of Waukee; Mike of Estherville; Pat of Armstrong and Steve of Altoona; daughters: Mrs. Don (Joann) Bormann, Livermore and Mrs. Phil (Alice) Schroeder, Fort Dodge; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Clarken, Badger; two sisters: Mrs. Verlyn (Lillian) Pirie, Fort Dodge and Mrs. Lowell (Delores) Griffee, Vancouver, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Feb. 10, 1993; one infant son; two grandchildren; parents and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1993)
