Estherville – Funeral services for William M. Woods, 75, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jerry Cosgrove officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Estherville. He died on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Bill was born on Sept. 17, 1926 near Gruver, the son of Michael and Roseanna (Dominy) Woods. Bill attended country school in Central Township near Ryan Lake. He graduated from Gruver High School in 1943.

He farmed with his father near Ryan Lake until 1945, when they moved to a farm in Ellsworth Township.

On January 14, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Phyllis Bringle at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. Bill farmed until 1991, when his health forced him to retire. He was also employed by Estherville Implement from1967 until January of 1990. The couple moved into Estherville in August of 1993.

Bill was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Estherville. Bill enjoyed farming and crossword puzzles. Bill was known as a man of few words. But, he was a kind and patient husband, father and grandpa. He will also be remembered for his dry sense of humor.

Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Estherville; six daughters and one son: Nancy Woods of Ottawa, Ill.; Debbie and Sandy Woods of Honolulu, Hawaii; Susan Woods of Clackamas, Ore.; Bill C. Woods and his wife Kate of Estherville; Diane Woods of Rochester, Minn. and Judy Delgado and her husband Rich of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, Abby, Michael and Megan Woods of Estherville; Garrett and Kirby Delgado of Omaha; one sister, Alma Woods of Estherville; two nephews, Bob Reuland and family of Estherville and Bernard Reuland and family in Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marie Reuland and Lucille Woods, two brothers, Bernard and John Woods, two infant sisters, Marguerite and Louis Woods and an infant brother, Michael Joseph. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 22, 2002)
