Dolores Umschied [Umscheid]
Estherville – Services for Delores Theresa Umscheid, 58, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Topf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, Oct. 4, 1990 at her home, rural Estherville.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday. Legion of Mary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and Vigil of the Deceased at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday.

She was born August 31, 1932 in Emmet County, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Elizabeth (Reuland) Schacherer and attended Wallingford and Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1950. On May 5, 1956 she was united in marriage with Richard Umscheid at Estherville. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spirit Lake before moving to the Wallingford area in 1957. She was employed at the Wallingford Creamery, worked for the ASCS office and at the Elevator in Wallingford. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; father, LeRoy Schacherer of Wallingford; three daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Cathy) Beaver, Estherville; Mrs. Dennis (Connie) Mart, Terril; Mrs. Jim (Kelly) Petersen, Wallingford; three sons: Charles and John, Estherville and Thomas of Armstrong; seven grandchildren; two brothers: Louis Schacherer, Estherville and Eugene Schacherer, Wallingford; four sisters: Mrs. Phil (Mary) Herum, Wallingford; Mrs. Lloyd (Lucy) McCombs, Graettinger; Mrs. David (Lorraine) Origer, Faribault, Minn. and Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Hunt, Dolliver.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 6, 1990)
