Estherville – Funeral services for Kathleen [Ann] Soper, 62, Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Tom Nash officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Friday, June 14 at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Legion of Mary Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

She was born on August 25, 1933 in Columbus, Neb., the daughter of William J. and Viola B. (Holloran) Geilenkirchen. She grew up in Lindsey, Neb. until she was age 3 and the family then moved to Maple Hill. She received her education in the Maple Hill schools and graduated from Ringsted High School. She was united in marriage to Leslie Lee Soper on June 5, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. After their marriage, the couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. while Les was in the service. In 1952, the couple moved to Estherville. She was employed by Berkley’s, Casa Loma, and the Estherville Country Club.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Catholic Daughters, Altar and Rosary Society, VFW Auxiliary and she donated time to many community activities.

She is survived by her husband of Estherville; four daughters, Kayleen Bingen of Estherville; Mrs. Mark (Joleen) Dietenberger of Wauakee, Wis.; Mrs. Rick (Lois) --- of Estherville; Mrs. David (L---) Friesner of Estherville; three sons, Dean Soper of Iowa City; Charles Soper of Honolulu; Daniel Soper of Estherville; and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one infant son. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 17, 1996)
