Estherville – Funeral services for William Alfred Snyder, 55, rural Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. A military service will be held at the cemetery.Mr. Snyder was pronounced dead on arrival at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, March 4.
Born Nov. 21, 1922 at Estherville to Fletcher and Eda (Anderson) Snyder, he was educated in the Emmet Consolidated schools. After graduation from high school he attended Estherville Junior College.
Jan. 25, 1947 he married Mary Lynch at Estherville. He worked for DEK, Morrell’s for 20 years and farmed for most of his married life. In addition he delivered the Des Moines Sunday Register for 11 years on rural routes in Estherville.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the VFW and the American Legion and was a veteran of WWII.
His survivors include his wife, Mary; his mother, Eda Snyder; three sons, Dave and Dale, both of Estherville, and Dick, Wallingford; one daughter, Mr. Jon (Debbie) Love, Estherville; eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Maurice (Margaret) Juhl, Estherville.
Preceding him in death were his father and one daughter.
Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. A parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, and the Legion of Mary rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. Tuesday. Both rosaries will be said at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services Wednesday morning.
