Fairmont – Services for Walter [Jacob] Rasche, 85, of Fairmont will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Estherville. He died Monday, January 6 at Fairmont Community Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm. Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church. A parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born June 3, 1911, near Northrup, Minn., the son of William and Louisa (Matthias) Rasche. He attended Northrup schools. He married Pauline Miller on April 14, 1932 in Blue Earth, Minn. The couple farmed near Granada, Minn., and later moved to the Ringsted area. He worked as a custodian at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Louis Spoo of Bangor, Wis., and Jessie Henderson of Spirit Lake; one son Thomas Rasche of Fairmont; one sister Hulda Meyer of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on July 11, 1984, his parents, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1997)
