Estherville – Funeral services for Robert A. Origer, 69, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Jerry Cosgrove officiating. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville and the Wallingford American Legion will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. He died on July 22, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1929 in Estherville, the son of Joseph and Imogene (Burns) Origer. He received his education in the Gruver schools, graduating from Gruver High School in 1949.

Following high school he began farming with his father and brothers. From 1951 to 1953, he served with the United States Army overseas in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he returned to the Gruver area and began farming in a partnership with his twin brother Bill and brother Merrill. He farmed and lived his entire life in the Estherville area. He retired from farming in 1994. He has been a resident of the Estherville Good Samaritan Center since February of 1999.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, VFW Post 3388, Wallingford American Legion and the Estherville Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his sister, Imogene Dessel of Harrison, Ark.; brother Merrill and wife Joann of Estherville; twin brother William and wife Evelyn of Estherville; brothers, Lewis and wife Joann of Pueblo, Colo.; John and wife Marian of Estherville; sister, Mrs. James (Catherine) Kuney of Omaha, Neb.; sister-in-law Patricia Origer of Pillager, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 24, 1999)
