M.C. Coady Will Be Laid to Rest Here Tomorrow Afternoon
M.C. Coady, a resident farmer of Estherville for over thirty years, died suddenly on Tuesday [July 12, 1932] morning at his farm home southwest of this city of apoplexy.The tornado of Saturday night had done considerable damage at his home place and he was about the yard clearing away the fallen branches. He was taken very suddenly and before the family doctor arrived he had passed away.
Mr. Coady was born in Taylorville, Ill., October 10, 1863 [per cemetery records & 1900 census, 1865]. He came here a little over a year ago and engaged in farming on the P.J. Sullivan farm southwest of the city.
He was very industrious and it was not long before he became a farm owner. He reared and educated two daughters, one residing in Armstrong and one in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Coady was greatly interested in farming and in any activities pertaining to farming. He was always interested in fairs and farm exhibits and always assisted in their promotion. He is a man whose friends were numbered by his acquaintances, a fine helpful neighbor and beloved by all who knew him.
The funeral services will be held from the St. Patrick’s Church on Thursday morning at nine o’clock and interment will made in the Catholic cemetery south of this city. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1932)
