Dies on Day of Funeral for Husband
Mrs. Henry Hoganson, 79, lifelong resident of Emmet County died last night at Holy Family Hospital, her death occurring just four days after that of her husband and on the same day that funeral services were held for Mr. Hoganson. Time of Mrs. Hoganson’s death, attributed to complications of a longtime illness, was 9:25.

The former Marie Axcelia Anderson was born May 9, 1883 on a farm four miles northeast of Estherville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson. She received her education in the Emmet County schools and lived with her parents until her marriage Dec. 26, 1905 to Henry Hoganson.

After their marriage the Hogansons farmed north of Gruver until 1913 at which time they purchased and moved to a farm six miles southeast of Estherville where they continued to live until 1947 when they retired from farming and moved to Estherville.

Mrs. Hoganson, like her husband, was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, having transferred her membership there from Immanuel Evangelical Church south of Gruver where she had been a member for many years.

Mrs. Hoganson is survived by three sons, Hogan of Wallingford, Carol and Arnold, both of Estherville; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one brother, Gust Anderson of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services are to be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Estherville Lutheran Church and will be preceded by a 1 p.m. family service, the Rev. Roy M. Hendrickson officiating at the services. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from Thursday until Saturday at 11 a.m. at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 19, 1962)
