William Harvey, 86, Farmer at Gruver, Dies
Rites Will be Held Next Wednesday
William Harvey, Sr., 86, died yesterday at 4:15 p.m. at his farm home near Gruver where he had resided for 60 years. He had been in failing health during the past three years. Mr. Harvey had moved to his farm near Gruver in 1887, coming from Illinois.He was born May 20, 1861, near Oswego, Ill., and on Nov. 15, 1899, was married to Susie Grems at Swan Lake. He had been a farmer all his life. A member of the Presbyterian church, he had been an elder of the Gruver church for many years.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter and four son, all of the Gruver vicinity.
Also surviving are four brothers, Robert, John, Alex and Edward Harvey, all of Illinois. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 at the Harvey home and 2 p.m. at the Gruver Presbyterian church, Rev. Albert Husted officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Wm. Harvey Sr. Long Time in County, Dies
In the death of William Harvey, Sr. of Gruver, last Sunday [June 15, 1947] afternoon, Emmet County lost one of its finest pioneer farm residents. A man always interested in farming and in a general way the interest of the entire farming community. He was a man greatly beloved by his community. An active member of the Presbyterian Church during the time he was in better health. Mr. Harvey has been in failing health for the past three years.Mr. Harvey was born at Oswego, Ill., May 20, 1861. He came to this county sixty years ago. He was united in marriage to Susie Grems at Swan Lake, November 15, 1899.
His survivors are his wife and four sons and one daughter all residing in the Gruver community.
The funeral services were held from the Harvey farm home on Wednesday at 1:30 and from the Presbyterian Church at Gruver at 2:00 p.m. the Rev. Albert Husted officiating. Interment was in the East Side cemetery in Estherville. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1947)
