Death at 75 for Holroyd
George Wilbur Holroyd, 75, an Emmet County resident since 1920, died early Sunday [March 27, 1966] night at the Good Samaritan Home.

Death was attributed to a heart condition. He had been in failing health for several years.

Mr. Holroyd was born Nov. 16, 1890, in Humboldt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Holroyd. He moved to Milford with his parents as a child and attended school there.

Dec. 17, 1914, he was married to Della Sigler at Spencer. The couple moved to a homestead in Canada and lived there until 1920, when they returned to a farm in the High Lake area near Wallingford.

In 1933, they came to Estherville, where he was employed at various times by the Crystal Springs Bottling Co., the City of Estherville, and the Sioux Valley Fishline Co.

Mr. Holroyd was a member of the Estherville Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Dale of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Verlyn (Dorothy) Vedder of Estherville and Mrs. Ray (Erma) Athey of Kolona, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Eldon of Alberta, Canada; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Swarner of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Hattie Anderson of Marshall, Minn.

His parents, wife, one son, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home, Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of the final rites. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 28, 1966)
