Final Services Conducted or Vern V. Haines
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today at the Estherville Lutheran Church for Vern V. Haines, 86, Estherville, who died at 11:15 a.m. on Friday [December 12, 1969] at the Good Samaritan Center. He had been ill for about two years.

He was born Nov. 26, 1883, at Altoona to Mr. and Mrs. William Haines.

He was married Sept. 10, 1901, to Helen Aanonson at Estherville. He had been a boilermaker for the M. and St. L. and the Rock Island railroads, retiring in 1948. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C.R. (Evelyn) Carlson, Spencer; two sons, Leonard and Orva, Estherville; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Peter Aanonson, Estherville.

The Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiated and burial was made in East Side Cemetery. Reese-Henry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Gary Haines, George Haines, Bari Haines, Kim Haines, Roger Fry and Orin Aanonson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 15, 1969)
