William A. Haines a resident of Emmet county for forty three years and a long time resident of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Aanonson, in Ringsted last Sunday [August 15, 1948] at 7:10 a.m.

His wife passed away in February of last years and up to that time he had resided in this city for 34 years. He was well known here. A man well liked by all who knew him. Quiet and unassuming, he made friends with many.

He was born in Fremont, Ohio, July 25, 1861. He was united in marriage to Ollie Shriner Jan. 21, 1883. To this union there were three children born, Verne Haines residing in Estherville, Mrs. Peter Aanonson of Ringsted and one son preceded him in death.

The funeral services were held from the new Huffman Funeral home in Estherville on Tuesday, the Rev. John DeLong officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the East Side cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1948)
