Russell Graves Succumbs; Services Held Here Today
Estherville – W. Russell Graves, 64, Gruver, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, in Holy Family Hospital.Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today in Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment was made in East Side Cemetery with military graveside rites. Serving as pallbearers were Arthur Hageman, Kenneth Hanson, Gary Juhl, Alan Krieger, Roy Lyle and James Whitehouse.
William Russell Graves was born on Nov. 7, 1909 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Graves. He received his education in Gruver schools and was graduated from Gruver High School, attended Estherville Junior College and Buena Vista College, Storm Lake. He was associated with Graves Grain Co., Gruver.
He served in the U.S. Army in Iran and India during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Gruver Presbyterian Church and Elks Club.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Paul H. Graves of Gruver, one brother, Myron Graves, Gruver; one sister, Mrs. Tom (Geraldine) Powell, Anamosa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 15, 1974)
