Daryl Goodwin, 8, Killed in Farm Mishap
Fall from “Jeep” Fatal
Funeral Service Will Be Monday
Daryl Lee Goodwin, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Goodwin, was killed in a farm accident --- Thanksgiving dinner --- on his uncle’s farm.

Daryl died after he fell from a jeep ---- at the Arthur West farm. He died half an hour later in Holy Family Hospital of a skull fracture.

Wayne West, a cousin was driving the jeep and another cousin, Larry Lee West, was riding in the back with Daryl when Daryl lost his balance and fell.

No one saw the accident itself. The Wests said they believe that the boy was killed from the fall rather than from ----.

Daryl was born Dec. 27, 1942, at Holy Family hospital and was in second grade at Lincoln school He was a member of the Presbyterian Sunday school He had spent a number of his vacations on his uncle’s farm helping his cousins with the farm work.

He is survived by his parents, a six year old brother, -- his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Juhl, an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. West and four cousins, Wayne, Virgil, Joyce and Larry Lee West.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the home and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church, the Rev. Thomas O. Mellon officiating. Burial will be at Eastside cemetery. Friends may call at the Sternborg funeral home from 4 p.m. tomorrow until 9 a.m. Monday, when the body will be taken from the funeral home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 23, 1951)
