Beryl Furne Dies Sunday
Beryl Dean Furne, 38, Estherville, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital from a heart attack.

He was born April 2, 1933, at Spirit Lake, the son of Jesse and Helen Porter Ferne. He attended Spirit Lake schools.

He was married Dec. 19, 1951, to Marlys Lyle at Jackson, Minn.

He served in the navy during the Korean war and they lived for a time in Anacortes, Wash. After his discharge from service they returned to Estherville where he was employed at John Morrell & Co. plant.

He was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples) where he was an elder of the church.

Surviving are his wife, Marlys; his mother, Mrs. Helen Kehr of Olympia, Wash.; a son, Steven Dean; and two daughters, Susan Ranae and Rhonda Lynn, all at home; two brothers, Gordon and Harold; and four sisters, Mrs. Albert (Gwendlolyn) Butler, Bettendorf; Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Endress, Olympia; Mrs. Beill (Cleone) Cassidy, Durant; Mrs. Louis (June) Suhr, Spirit Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville, the Rev. Robert K. Miller officiating. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Johnson, Donald Lair, George Dawson, Merle Grems, John Knode Sr. and Merle Andre.

Honorary pallbearers will be elders of the church: Harry Jones, Bill Beaver, Cecil Eide, Don Richard, Wendell Webber, Loyd Wilson, Harold Sawyer and Leo Anderson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 13, 1972)
