Lee Eveleth Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Lee Elmer Eveleth, 78, former Estherville resident, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Reese-Henry Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Sawyer will officiate and burial will be in East Side Cemetery.Mr. Eveleth died at 4 p.m. Tuesday [June 6, 1972] at Prescott, Ariz., where he was hospitalized. He had been in ill health for several years.
He was born June 27, 1893, at Monroe, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emery J. Eveleth. He received his education in the Sac City area schools.
He was married Aug. 14, 1915, to Anna Rosburg at Estherville. She died in March, 1963. He was married to Violet Everson at Estherville on June 8, 1966. They had moved to Mesa, Ariz., about five years ago.
Mr. Eveleth came to Estherville in 1913 and served as a rural mail carrier here from 1921 to 1955. He was a long-time member of Knights of Pythias and was a member of the National Association of Retired Civil Employees.
Surviving are his wife, Violet, of Mesa; three sons, Lloyd, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Russell, Estherville; Maurice, Glendale, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Don (Iva) Dykstra, Pella; and Mrs. James (Betty) Hanson, Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
Also two brothers, Jay of Oregon, and Jim of Sepulveda, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. Grace Robinson, Estherville; Mrs. Ruth Clover, Lake City; Mrs. Esther Pusey, La Crascenta, Calif.; Mrs. Lois Woods, Exeland, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, and one brother.
Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 8, 1972)
