A.Dobberstein Dies Saturday
Had Resided in Community for 30 Years
August Dobberstein, 75, a resident of this community for 30 years died at his farm home Saturday [April 29, 1933] morning at six o’clock of a heart attack. Mr. Dobberstein was busy about the work of the farm as usual and while he had been ill the week before his passing, for a short time, his condition was not thought serious. He arose as usual the last morning and went downstairs to build the fire. He felt ill while at this task and went upstairs again and passed away shortly afterward.

Mr. Dobberstein was born on April 6, 1858 in Germany. He came to America 50 years ago.

Two sons, Frank and John Dobberstein, who farm the home place, and one daughter Mrs. Elmer Herbrandsen of Minot, N.D. survive their father. One daughter Mrs. Joe Kinney and his wife have preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning in St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Estherville. Interment will be made at Greene this afternoon where the family resided before coming to Emmet county. The body will be taken overland in the Mahlum and Anderson coach. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 2, 1933)
