A.T. Bringle Dies Today at Hospital
A.T. (Art) Bringle, 68, died at Holy Family Hospital today at 12:54 p.m. He had been seriously ill for the past several days.

Mr. Bringle had been county director of relief until his retirement Dec. 31, 1959. He had been an active leader in Red Cross work in this area and had been service officer for the county for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters and a son. Surviving daughters are Mrs. Paul Youngstrom of Estherville, Mrs. Jack Degelan and Mrs. Albin Goodwin, and his son, Raymond, of Sacramento.

Rites to be Monday for A.T. Bringle
Funeral services for A.T. (Art) Bringle, 68, well-known Estherville resident who served 17 years as county overseer of the poor and Red Cross executive secretary since 1943, will be held Monday at Estherville Lutheran Church.

Mr. Bringle died yesterday at 12:45 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital of ulcers and complications.

Family services will be held at 1:30 p.m. and public service at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Harley Schmitt of Redeemer Lutheran Church will officiate. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and World War I Veterans.

Mr. Bringle is widely known throughout the county for his long service with Red Cross and as service officer of the Estherville American Legion post. Holding these posts during World War II and the Korean conflict, Mr. Bringle assisted many county servicemen with problems connected with their military service. He had more than 2,000
Records of servicemen in his office whom he had helped with claims, insurance and pensions and many more solicited his advice and counsel.

Mr. Bringle was born April 1, 1894 in Dickinson County, the son of Jacob and Belle Bringle. He was educated in Dickinson County schools. He was married to Alma Jeglum in August, 1919, at the home of her parents. She died in 1924 and he was married to Lois Fleck on March 3, 1929 at Sioux Falls.

Mr. Bringle operated a shoe store with his brother, the late Maurice Bringle, in Estherville from 1919 to 1924 and then farmed north of Superior for a few years.

He moved back to Estherville in 1933 and was engaged in the insurance business. He was appointed county overseer of the poor in 1943 and held that post until his retirement in 1960. He continued as Red Cross executive secretary after retirement from his county office.

Mr. Bringle is a veteran of World War I, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a past master of the local chapter; member of Redeemer Lutheran Church which he served as a deacon and of the American Lutheran Brotherhood.

Survivors include his widow, one son, Raymond, Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Godwin, Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. John (Marian) Degelau, Minneapolis; and Mrs. Paul (Arlene) Youngstrom of Estherville; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, the Rev. Albert Bringle, Strawberry Point; Elwin, Lubie and Claire, all of Estherville; and one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Beulah) Riley, Sepulveda, Calif. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from this evening until 11 a.m. Monday and from noon Monday until time of services at Estherville Lutheran Church. The casket will not be opened after the service. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Zell Berryhill, Corwin B. Keith, Don L. McAdams, Merle Klongerbo, Erwin Ledebuhr and Joe Miller. Honorary pallbearers are H.G. Dougherty, John Tweedt, Elmer Iverson, Lloyd Gardner, Maurice Salyers and L.E. Thomas. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 28, 1962)
