Estherville Man Dies in Accident
Gerald Leslie Bradley, 41, Estherville, was killed in a two-truck crash on Interstate 80 near Princeton, Ill., at 3 a.m. yesterday, Feb. 24, 1972.

Illinois State Police said Bradley was killed when a truck he was driving hit the rear of a truck driven by 24-year-old Alan Helmers of Waterloo. Helmers’ truck was slowing down because of mechanical trouble. Bradley’s truck caught fire after the crash. Helmers was reported in fair condition at a hospital in Princeton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville. The casket will be closed. The Rev. Robert K. Miller of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will officiate.

Burial will be made in East Side Cemetery. Military graveside services will be held at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joe Sifrit, Charles Zitterich, Cecil Eide, Marvin Dahl, Basil Roberts, Jr. and Lloyd Guge.

Bradley was born Oct. 9, 1930, near Fort Dodge to Howard and Vivian Bradley. He was educated in Estherville schools and was employed by Mid-West Emery Trucking Co. of Cedar Rapids. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Vivian Sweet, Estherville, and his uncle, Linn Foderberg, mayor of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 25, 1972)
