Funeral services for Clyde Willard Beatty of Spirit Lake were held Saturday, Sept. 20, at Donovan-Leyson Chapel in Spirit Lake, with Rev. Robert Phillips presiding.Interment was at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Pallbearers were William Hively, Roland Harker, Elmer Kilts, Ed Lloyd, Jr., Larry Kelly and Calvin Hardman.
Clyde Beatty was born April 6, 1880 at New Hampton, Iowa to John and Rhoda Beatty. He attended school at New Hampton and later attended Ames Agricultural College.
On Dec. 6, 1909 he was united in marriage to Lucille Marie Riggs at Estherville. Three children were born to this union, two sons and one daughter.
Most of his life was spent farming in Dickinson County and after his retirement in about 1935 he moved to Spirit Lake, which has been his home ever since.
Clyde died at his home at 710 14th Street in Spirit Lake on Sept. 15, 1975 of a heart attack. He was 95 years of age.
He is survived by his two sons, Albert Beatty of Waterloo, Lester Beatty of Ocheyedan, and one daughter Ethel, Mrs. Celland Brown of Des Moines; one sister-in-law, eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife in 1962, three sisters and two brothers. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, October 2, 1975)
