Avis Mae Bassett
Estherville – Funeral services for Mrs. Roy (Avis Mae) Bassett will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Goldman of the United Methodist Church officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. She died Monday [August 18, 1975] morning at Rosewood Manor.

Mrs. Bassett was born January 8, 1893 at Indianola to Mr. and Mrs. Andy McKnight and was married to Roy Burt Bassett at Creston on August 9, 1912. They had lived in Emmet County since 1918 and she was preceded in death by her husband in 1971. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Estherville.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Maxine) Ullensvang and Mrs. Francis (Pauline) Koenecke, both of Estherville; five grandchildren; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter; two brothers, Rufus McKnight, Chariton; and Merle McKnight, Liberty Center; and one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Wilkinson, Salem, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until time of services Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1975)
