Frank Barrett, 72, Dies Suddenly, Funeral Today

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at two o'clock at the Graettinger Methodist church for Frank W. Barrett, 72, who died suddenly from a heart attack early Monday morning. The Rev. George Pingle will officiate. Burial will be at the East Side cemetery at Estherville. The Martin Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Burton Clark, Roy Hood, John Clenumensen, Peter J. Peterson, Wm. Joyce, and Frank Christensen.

Frank Warren Barrett was born Jan. 25, 1885 in Nebraska. He married Johannah Nelson at Graettinger on Feb. 23, 1910. He made his home in the Graettinger, Dolliver and Estherville area. He had been engaged in farming and at one time was employed at a meat market in Graettinger. In later years he had helped his son, Leonard, in the operation of the Graettinger Locker plant, until his illness of the past several months prevented him from assisting at the locker. Mrs. Barrett died Feb. 14, 1952. Although ill for several months he was able to be up town much of the time until his sudden death shortly after awakening Monday morning.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Graettinger , Jack of Estherville, and a daughter, Mrs. John (Alice) Smith of Milford. Also surviving are five grandchildren, a brother, Leonard A. Barrett of Estherville and a sister Mrs. Willard (Esther) Crim also of Estherville. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, Iowa, May 30, 1957)
