Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Tow and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Tow were in Estherville Sunday [April 3, 1938] attending the funeral of Bert Barrett. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, April 7, 1938)

Former Graettinger Man Dies at Estherville
Bert Barrett, 52, former Graettinger resident, passed away at the Coleman hospital at Estherville last Thursday [April 7, 1938 – but must be news from previous week, since the services were April 3, 1938, per the previous article dated April 7. The dod would have been March 31, 1938] morning. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Estherville Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer, the pastor officiated. Interment was in the East Side cemetery at that place. The deceased is survived by his wife and two sons, Dale and Ronald, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Barrett and by two brothers, Frank and Leonard, and one sister, Mrs. Willard Crim, all of Estherville. (Democrat, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1938)
