Rites Set for Mrs. Barber
Armstrong – Funeral services have been set for tomorrow for Beulah Belle Barber, mother of Armstrong Mayor Warren Barber, who died at her son’s home in Armstrong Monday [July 8, 1963] night.

Family services will be at 11;30 a.m. at the Calvary Gospel Assembly Church in Estherville and public services will be held at the church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter Pedersen is to officiate. Burial is to be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Mrs. Barber had been in failing health since last October. Her death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Nov. 15, 1884 at Tama, where she attended school. She later became a teacher and taught at Grundy Center and rural Estherville schools.

On May 29, 1904, she was married to Harry Barber at Estherville. He died in 1945.

Survivors include two sons, Warren, and Paul of El Cajon, Calif., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Calvary Gospel Assembly church in Estherville and was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.

Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home until tomorrow morning when the body will be taken to lie in state at the church in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 10, 1963)
